Farley & Partners LLP

Trusted Legal Advisors

We are preeminent national workplace safety and crisis management lawyers. Many of the largest global energy companies and chemical manufacturers designate us as their crisis response counsel. Our attorneys have served in lead attorney roles for some of the most significant US industrial accidents and transportation incidents in the last 20 years.

We have directed the response to more investigations by the US Chemical Safety Board ("CSB") than any other law firm. Our attorneys also have significant experience with investigations by the National Transportation Safety Board ("NTSB"). In 2023, for example, we served as incident response counsel to a hazardous materials shipper who was a participating party to the NTSB investigation into the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio -- an incident of national interest with significant public and media scrutiny.

Trusted advisors to our clients, the firm's practice is focused on developing a new standard for how companies respond to the investigations by the CSB, NTSB, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA"), the US Environmental Protection Agency ("US EPA"), and the US Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration ("PHMSA") that often occur in the aftermath of a workplace disaster or major transportation incident.

Our founding partner, Mark Farley, was one of the lead partners supporting the work of the BP US Refineries Independent Safety Review Panel, which investigated the corporate safety culture and oversight at BP's North American refineries on behalf of an independent panel of experts chaired by former US Secretary of State James A. Baker III. We often are hired to help organizations evaluate their global safety performance and determine whether safety management systems are functioning as intended.

We also are committed to helping our clients reduce their outside counsel costs without sacrificing client service or experience. We created e-hse -- a virtual secondment service -- in response to the needs of our clients. Many companies do not have in-house health, safety, and environmental (“HSE”) legal counsel; and even organizations with internal resources may sometimes need to augment their in-house team. Under e-hse, we provide legal support for routine HSE matters or special HSE projects under alternative fee arrangements or discounted hourly rates. Our goal is to partner with our clients to meet their unique needs in a manner that will allow clients to reliably quantify annual expenditures while maintaining access to experienced attorneys well-versed in the regulatory issues confronting their industry.
